LETTERBOX DIRECTIONS:
Eeyore’s Gloomy Place
Turn into the 100 Acre Wood driveway, located at 41 Observatory Way, in Intervale. Pull down the dirt driveway and park at the Believe in Books office (a blue house). Begin from the rear of the office, heading towards four large rocks and a metal gate. Follow the trail downhill and cross train tracks. Continue downhill until you reach a trail intersection. You will be heading to the right, but pause for a second to enjoy a view of the pond! Follow the trail for a couple of minutes until you come to a small clearing. Now follow the trail to your left. As you continue, you will see the pond on your left. After you first see the pond, look for a cluster of large rocks on the left side of the trail. There is a small dead tree which leans towards the center of the cluster. It is pointing to your treasure!
Bee Tree
Turn into the 100 Acre Wood driveway, located at 41 Observatory Way, in Intervale. Notice the sugar shack on the right hand side. Park directly across from the shack in one of the available parking places. Walk towards the shack and proceed towards the woods just to the left of the shack. There are two trails that you can take into the woods. You want to take the one to the right with the old piece of farm equipment on the left hand side of the trail. You will also notice a stone wall on the right hand side of the trail. Walk for about three minutes and be on the lookout for a very large oak tree on the right. You will notice one that resembles a Y. Pass that one and continue on the trail. A little ways down the trail you will see another gigantic oak tree on the right that stands alone. Walk behind this tree on the woods side. Notice a stone wall through the woods. Walk about 50 paces over to the wall then follow it into the woods until you come across a hollowed-out tree. This is the Bee Tree!
Note: If you want to continue on the trail, it will take you out to the driveway in a short distance. If you take a left at the driveway, it will take you back to the car.
Take a walk and read a story on our StoryWalk!
Experience great children’s
stories in a unique way! The ‘StoryWalk’ will
encourage both, the love of reading, and the love of the outdoors by guiding families along paths and trails while reading books!
For the month of August, we have two Storywalks set up. "Dinosaur Woods" by George McClements and
"Blueberries for Sal" by Robert McCloskey.
