Believe in Books Youth Theater

For years, Believe in Books Literacy Foundation has hosted many events that bring the magic of stories to life before children’s eyes. Whether its been Character Breakfast with Pooh & Friends, Earth Day with Dr. Seuss' the Lorax, or traveling to Santa’s Workshop on the Journey to the North Pole™, stories have a part in everything we do. Now we have created an opportunity for the youth in our community to jump into their beloved stories, and bring those characters to life themselves!

Believe in Books Youth Theater was created to take children’s creativity a little further, and introduce them to the performing arts! On March 26th & 28th we will be having open auditions for kids ages 7-18 to perform in High School Musical Jr.!

We at Believe in Books Literacy Foundation truly believe in the power of a good story, which is why our mission is to advance healthy development of young minds that encourage early reading, imagination, and physical activity. As children grow, so does their thirst of knowledge and creativity. Performing is a great next step to help bring the magic of their stories to life.

Throughout the rehearsal process, students will experience the art of how stories can take us on a magical journey through our imagination, and will then get to share those stories for an audience. Rehearsals will be a few hours an evening, 3 nights a week for about 6 weeks. It’s also flexible scheduling, so you can participate in this show and most regular after school activities. :-)

High School Musical Jr. is a story about how two students from rival cliques and all the students of East High deal with issues of love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities. – Troy, captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella, a shy scholastic transfer student, try out for the lead parts in their high school musical, which causes division among all the school's students. High school diva Sharpay and her twin brother Ryan, will do anything not only to sabotage the friendship and romance between Troy and Gabriella, but also to get the leads in the school musical. Despite other students' attempts to thwart their dreams, Troy and Gabriella resist peer pressure and rivalry, inspiring others along the way not to "stick to the status quo". The show’s infectious, danceable songs are sure to engage performers and audiences alike.

The best thing about all of this, is because we are a Non-Profit organization that raises funds to bring books to the communities that we serve; programs like this allow us to help kids, who are helping kids.
